The statutory functions of the Council
- To maintain a Register of Farriers.
- To make Rules with respect to the Register.
- To approve courses of training, qualifications and institutions for the purposes of the Act, and to keep itself informed of the nature of instruction and examinations.
- To appoint an independently operated Investigating Committee.
- To appoint an independently operated Disciplinary Committee.
- To deliver the function of the National Competent Authority for Farriery in England, Wales and Scotland.
- To appoint a Registrar.
