The statutory functions of the Council

  • To maintain a Register of Farriers.
  • To make Rules with respect to the Register.
  • To approve courses of training, qualifications and institutions for the purposes of the Act, and to keep itself informed of the nature of instruction and examinations.
  • To appoint an independently operated Investigating Committee.
  • To appoint an independently operated Disciplinary Committee.
  • To deliver the function of the National Competent Authority for Farriery in England, Wales and Scotland.
  • To appoint a Registrar.
