Code of Professional Conduct

Upon registration with the Farriers Registration Council all Registered Farriers will be issued with a copy of ‘Farrier & Apprentice Code of Professional Conduct’.  Copies will also be made available to those enrolling on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Farriery.

This Code of Professional Conduct describes the principles of good farriery practice, and the standards of competence, care and conduct expected of Registered Farriers and apprentice farriers in all aspects of their professional work.

The Code is split into three parts. The first sets out the specific responsibilities that a Farrier should adhere to, the second part sets out guidelines to assist Farriers with meeting these responsibilities, and the third part describes the specific duties and responsibilities of apprentices.

The Code cannot, of necessity, cover every eventuality but its purpose is to explain the expected standards of professional conduct by way of specific responsibilities and guidelines.
