The Council is required by statute to approve qualifications, courses of training and training establishments that deliver persons eligible to join the register of farriers. The relevant legislation is set out at Farriers (Registration) Act 1975, s7, s11 and s12. The Council discharges this responsibility through its Approvals Committee, and by way of policy its approval reports are published by the Council for the information of the public and of the profession.
