Career Opportunities

A role within the farriery profession will offer registrants a career of varied and important duties maintaining and protecting the lower limbs and feet of equines. This includes the use of appropriate hoof care solutions including assessing, balance, trimming and shoeing using a variety of materials.

Throughout a career farriers continue to expand and develop their farriery and knowledge through practical experience and regular completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

There are a variety of specialist areas that may be pursued by registrants including work within the racing and polo industries, remedial farriery, participating in shoeing competitions, working with heavy horses or working overseas in practice and for charities.

Higher qualifications in farriery are offered for those seeking formal progression of their training.
