How to Find an Apprenticeship

Candidates applying to a college for an Apprenticeship in Farriery must be supported by an Approved Training Farrier (ATF) who is willing to employ them throughout their Apprenticeship.

  • Check you have the minimum academic entry requirements. If you are unsure as to whether your qualifications would make you eligible, contact an Admissions team at one of the Colleges.
  • Contact ATFs from the published ATF list to find one who is willing to employ you for the Period of Apprenticeship.

It may be necessary to look outside your local area for such an ATF and you may need to be prepared to live away from home during the Apprenticeship Period.

It is important to find someone you can work with for the duration of a lengthy apprenticeship.

Contact the Admissions teams at the Colleges for full details of their admissions procedures.

Once accepted by the College all apprentices must be enrolled with the FRC and this will involve completion of an FRC application form and payment of an annual enrolment fee.
