Investigating Committee

The Investigating Committee is a statutory Committee set up under section 13 of the Act and comprises of six members appointed by the Council. Its duty is to investigate complaints against Registered Farriers which contain allegations of serious professional misconduct in a professional respect (i.e. those which may be capable of leading to the removal of the farrier’s name from the Register or their registration being suspended), fraudulent registration or conviction of an offence involving cruelty to animals. The Investigating Committee must decide whether the allegation is sufficiently serious, if the evidence is sufficiently strong and whether the matter should be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for its consideration.
